I think that Jacob is turning out to be a leader and trying to help other people out beues when willy was missing his brother and his mother Jacob gave willie a stone that will remind willy of his mother. Jacob is helping to make everything better in the camp and is trying to get all the boys calmed down. Jacob is not a quieter he helped 2 boys across a river even tho there was crocodiles in the water. Jacob watched boys his age he didn't even know get killed by crocodiles and dragged under.
((page 89) They watched in horror as the crocodile's powerful jaws opened wide, revealing its sharp teeth. Jacob's eyes closed as the jaw snapped shut> a boys was dragged under; red strings marked the spot where he had disappeared)
Nothing can stop jacob because on his mind he is going to find his mother
in ethiopia. Jakop and all his friends find themselves in a refugee camp and Jacob is doing what his mama wanted him to do and that is going to school. Jacob finds out that soldiers are stealing that boys food and are not being very kind to anyone their
I agree with you on how Jacob is turning out to be a leader, and i think he will just become a better leader as the book goes on. He is always helping people in this book, he is rarely helping himself therefore he is a very selfless person. I like how you wrote your post is was to the point and no beating around the bush.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a few spelling mistakes, nothing to major. I do agree with both you an I.S5-9, that Jacob s turning into a leader. HOwever in some aspects I believe that Jacob was forced to grow up an be that leader. My point is proven when Monyoor goes with the SPLA and Jacob and Willy do not go with him.
ReplyDeleteJacob not only finds out that the soldiers are stealing the boys food, he is witness to a devastating encounter between Adam and teacher Matthew. This is when he starts to realize maybe his Mama as right. Going to school will help you lead a better life or peace and that fighting is not the way to solve life's problems.
