Mojak. The Snake, The Cheeta, The Friend
Ever since the beginning of the book we have saw many faces in the book that we loved and hated. During the book we are introduced to the character Mojak and his development as he as one of the characters that we have had since the beginning of the book to almost the very end. During the story we have witnessed Mojak and all the stupid stuff he has done and yet still miraculously survive to eventually leave the camp to go to school. The character Mojak I believe made it his only reason for existing just that he could push every button of Jacob. At the beginning of the book we are introduced to Mojak as he is playing soccer with some other village boys. Even from the first time we met him we have witnessed his high superiority complex and everything that he brags about to try and make others feel bad. After the fight that Mojak has with Jacob on pages 156-158, we notice that Mojak has a huge character revelation and stops harassing Jacob as bad as he did before.
With Mojak at the end of the book though he has strayed away from the cruelness that made people shudder, we can still see the same sarcastic boy that we saw at the beginning of the book. It may sound funny to bring this up, but i believe that one of the reasons Mojak acts out towards Jacob is that he maybe jealous of Jacob and his life. Though it is true that Mojak and Jacob are in the same situation there are many factors that separate them both physically and mentally. In Jacob's life he has friends much like Mojak does, but the significance of the friendships are much different, with Jacob's friends they are much more than just people he hangs out with they are his family and with Mojak his friends are just with him for power reasons.
At the end of the book or the last pages with Mojak he seems to have developed a love/hate relationship with as proved when Mojak states to Jacob that he is leaving and that now Jacob must now find someone else to compete with at school. I believe without the character Mojak and his development there wouldn't have been that person we love to hate and that without Mojak some of the things Jacob has done may not have exactly turned out the way it did with Mojak in the story.

You are 100% right. Majok acts out towards Jacob and your right i also think it might be out of jealousy. When there in school at the refugee camps jacob learns so much faster and does way better than majok and majok has been going to school for way longer. Also majok lost the privilege of seeing jacob as a dumb kid,Jacob is now very smart. Majok i also think was jealous. But you are also right by saying that they developed a love/hate relationship in the last pages of majok!
